Door zijn lage productie kosten en brede bereikbaarheid op de markt is het daarbij ook een goed betaalbare plastic soort om te gebruiken voor je 3D printer. Doordat PLA al bij lage temperaturen smelt is er geen geavanceerde 3D printer nodig, tevens heeft het ook geen verwarmd bed nodig om goed te printen. Echter wordt wel een verwarmd bed aanbevolen met een temperatuur van rond de 50 graden Celsius. Dit zodat het materiaal beter hecht aan het bouwplatform. Ook komen er bijna geen ongewenste dampen vrij tijdens het printen van dit materiaal. Al met al is PLA een zeer goed materiaal dat van beginners tot professionals gebruikt wordt.
